FOUNDERS NOTE
"Do you ever have one of those days where you just want to pack it all up and escape? Maybe to a quiet summer garden in Norfolk, the lavender fields in the south of France, or a peaceful retreat in the hills of Ubud. That’s exactly why I created Retreat. The scent—lavender, ylang-ylang, and cedarwood—instantly transports me somewhere softer, calmer. It lifts my mood, soothes the stress, and helps me reset. When I need to feel held, this is the bath I run."

Fragrance Notes
Why This Works
Ylang ylang doesn't just smell beautiful — studies suggest it may help reduce blood pressure and slow heart rate, which is why it's at the heart of this blend. Lavender signals the nervous system to downshift, cedarwood grounds the mind, and ho leaf adds a quiet brightness that stops the blend from becoming heavy. The apricot kernel oil delivers them all directly to the skin - Omega 9, vitamins E and K — so you're feeding the skin and the senses at the same time. In the bath, the oil emulsifies into a milky lather. In the shower, it locks everything in.
FAQ
What is Retreat Bath & Shower Oil used for?
A stress-relief and relaxation oil for the bath or shower, that also deeply nourishes the skin.
Retreat blends ylang ylang, lavender, cedarwood, and ho leaf essential oils in an apricot kernel oil base. Ylang ylang and lavender calm the nervous system; cedarwood and ho leaf ground the blend. Apricot kernel oil — rich in Omega 9, vitamins E and K — feeds the skin at the same time. In the bath it transforms into a milky lather; in the shower it can be applied to damp skin as a nourishing finish.
How do I use it?
A few drops in the bath, or applied to damp skin after a shower.
In the bath: add 10–12 drops (about a quarter of a cap) to warm running water and swirl to disperse. The oil emulsifies into a soft milky lather. Soak for at least 20 minutes. In the shower: apply a few drops to damp skin after cleansing, let it absorb for a moment, then towel dry lightly. It won't leave a greasy residue.
Can I use Retreat Bath & Shower Oil duringpregnancy?
No — not recommended during pregnancy due to the concentration of essential oils.
Verdant Alchemy does not recommend this product during pregnancy due to its high concentration of essential oils. If you are pregnant or unsure, please consult your healthcare provider before use
What does Retreat smell like?
Floral, woody, and calming — like a spa you didn't have to travel to.
Ylang ylang leads — rich, exotic, and slightly sweet, like jasmine at golden hour. Lavender adds fresh floral herbaceous calm. Cedarwood and ho leaf bring dry woody warmth underneath. Together they create a scent that's deeply settling without being heavy.
What's the difference between Retreat and the DeepDrift Soak?
Different format, overlapping use case — the oil also deeply nourishes skin.
Both are formulated for calm and unwinding, and share lavender, ylang ylang, and cedarwood as core ingredients. The key difference is format: the soak delivers magnesium through mineral
salts; the oil delivers aromatherapy through a skin-nourishing botanical oil base. Many customers use the soak for deep evening rituals and the oil for a quicker shower reset.
