Our bodies are wonderful things. They give us the availability to do all we desire in this world. At Verdant Alchemy, we believe in the mind and body being deeply interconnected. We often neglect our bodies in order to tackle other tasks in our lives, which can lead to burnout and feelings of weakness. We must treat our bodies with care to make sure they can be used to their fullest potential.

Eat Well
In order to perform to the best of its ability, you need to fuel your body with food that will energise and sustain you. One way to do this is to make sure you are eating a healthy breakfast to start your days right. Eating breakfast is very important when looking to rid your body of that morning's grogginess and improve one’s overall health. Look for foods that boost your energy by seeking out a breakfast rich in whole grains, fruits, and healthy fats. Oatmeal with berries and yoghurt is a great way to hit all three of these categories. Oatmeal is high in B vitamins, complex carbs, and fibre, promoting healthy digestion. At the end of the day, it is important to eat a meal that will keep you full throughout the night but won’t impair your sleep. Try eating dinner around 2-3 hours before bed, and if you are still hungry grab a light snack that will keep you full without impacting your sleep.

Practice Self Care
It is important that you set aside time to care for your body. One way to do this is by practising gua sha. Gua sha can help relieve your body of health conditions like tension in the head or neck, as well as relieve any tightness in the shoulder and legs, and decrease swelling. Gua sha works by massaging the tool into your muscles in a repeated motion allowing drainage to occur. This massage can be completed easily by using light pressure and gentry stretching the skin down. Gua sha originated in China and we suggest buying your gua sha from an Asian-owned business, we have linked a couple below.
